Cretan Land thyme honey
Ancient Greeks used honey both as a means of nourishment and medicinal therapy. Hippocrates wrote: “Honey and pollen cause warmth, clean sores and ulcers, soften hard ulcers of lips, heal carbuncles and running sores.“ Honey has been used since as a treatment for a sore throat and cough, while, according to recent research, it may in fact be more effective than some common cold medicines.
